Lady Gaga was in Los Angeles today, signing copies of her brand new studio album 'The Fame Monster' at Best Buy (11301 W. Pico Blvd.) Click here for photos!
Quick reminder: don't forget to tune in to 'Logo' as Lady GaGa hosts NewNowNext PopLab tonight at 7pm! In the mean time, you can watch bits of her interview below.
Lady Gaga is absolutely destroying the charts on both Canadian and U.S. iTunes! Both her 'Bad Romance' single and her recently released 'The Fame Monster' album are currently topping the charts at number one! Pretty impressive considering that Rihanna's latest studio album was also released this morning.
Head on out and grab your copy of 'The Fame Monster', just released in the U.S., Canada, as well as the United Kingdom! Make sure to buy as many copies as you can! If you can't make it out today, the album is also available on iTunes and Amazon.com. Let's get her to number one!
The window hasn’t completely shut on Lady Gaga’s chances for a Grammy nomination as Best New Artist, Grammy president Neil Portnow revealed to EW on the American Music Awards red carpet tonight. While Variety reported last week that Gaga is ineligible for the prize because her hit “Just Dance” was already nominated for Best Dance Recording last year, we asked Portnow if the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences might consider a rule change to let the year’s biggest breakout act compete for the prestigious prize.
“Yes,” Portnow said. “The awards and nominations committee meets to review the rules every year. We change the rules frequently. We recognize that situation is not perfect, and we are looking at ways to figure it out.”
Long story short - Taylor Swift picks up the 'Favorite Female Artist' award, Gaga delivers an incredible performance ('Bad Romance', followed by 'Speechless'), Gloriana wins "Breakthrough Artist Award', and Taylor Swift (yet again) picks up 'Artist of the Year'. Click here for photos!
Gaga may not have picked up any awards tonight, however she did put on one hell of a performance!
Her rehearsal was closed to the public, and EW.com was allowed to remain and report on the proceedings only after much pleading and cajoling, and also some hiding. But at this point after the Where-The-Wild-Flaming-Boob-Things-Are headtrip of her “Bad Romance” video do you really need photographic evidence of the Lady’s abilities to know you should probably tune in?
Ever since she first whacked us over the head with a disco stick, it seems even the most pop-averse among us are unable to resist her weirdo charms. At least she’s never boring. (And for the record? If even I think she deserves that Best New Artist Grammy, she probably deserves it. I’m cynical about everything.)
Gaga’s AMA performance appears to be her most far-reaching live effort yet, as though she took a look at that bizarre gyroscope dress-to-piano transition she rather botched on Saturday Night Live and said, “Yeah, but what if we made it even harder for me to get to the keyboard?” She’s not only performing “Bad Romance,” which was to be expected, but seizing the opportunity to debut “Speechless” off her Fame Monster reissue as well.
This morning’s extended rehearsal was a massive effort that looked less like the prep for a shiny commercial broadcast TV show and more like the chaos surrounding load-in for a futuristic musical at some super-hardcore theater camp: As stagehands prepped the giant set pieces, a choreographer had the pack of dancers including Gaga, in sunglasses, black bra, hot pants, and stilettos writhing across every inch of stage. Like in the “Bad Romance” video (and the Timbaland performance from Friday’s rehearsals), there’s a lot of “Thriller” in their moves the look is all twitchy claw hands and whatnot. While she marked the steps, Gaga gripped her mic, often directing the action or belting out lyrics a capella in her sonorous, well-trained voice.
I don’t want to ruin stuff for anyone out there, so I’ll just tell you that along with whatever hell-couture monstrosity Gaga decides to wear (one can only imagine), you will also be treated to gas masks, violins, and some serious crashing and burning. Shakira whose closed rehearsal I scoped today, too may have 25 female dancers stomping the yard in staggering precision, but Gaga’s got that thing she keeps insisting we call “art.” So, okay. It’s art. You win. Please do not burn me in bed with your boobs.
Lady Gaga just confirmed a new tour date for Europe! She will be at the Palais Omnisport of Paris Bercy in France on May 19th. The tickets will soon be available.
Just a reminder, Lady Gaga is coming back to Logo Channel to host NewNowNext PopLab on 11/23 at 7pm! Gaga had the pleasure to host the first ever episode of NewNowNext PopLab last year. Click here to check it out.
If you happen to miss it, check back next week for video coverage.
At the taping of the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards on Wednesday night (November 18), there were a handful of memorable moments that captured both the madcap energy of the show and the envelope-pushing nature of the artists involved. There was the near-nudity of Matt and Kim's backup singers, the curse-happy introduction Mary-Louise Parker gave for the Dead Weather and Asher Roth's stage dive.
One of the most head-turning moments of the night came when Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte otherwise known as 3OH!3 stepped onto the stage to present the Left Field Woodie (which ended up going to fiercely independent rapper Tech N9ne).
The pair were introduced and appeared on the stage at the Roseland Ballroom wearing two outfits that Lady Gaga wore at the Video Music Awards back in September. Foreman donned the strange white bird's nest outfit, while Motte was wrapped in that full-body red lace stocking (which he described as "a soiled pair of panties" on his face). "We're here to present the Left Field Woodie," said Foreman.
"It honors the artists out there with the balls to make the music that they want to make," Motte added. "To write lyrics that others are afraid to write."
"To dress up with a f---ing bird's nest on your face," Foreman concluded.
The band didn't seem particularly comfortable in the Gaga-inspired threads, though the outfits were definitely an improvement over Foreman's cardigan sweater. You can see the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards in their entirety when the show airs on December 4 at 10 p.m. on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU.
Lady Gaga was a guest on today's airing of 'On-Air with Ryan Seacrest' on 102.7 KIIS FM. Gaga talked (and seemed pretty excited) about her upcoming 'Monster Ball' tour, her upcoming 'American Music Awards' performance, as well as her new studio album.
She seemed pretty relaxed and open during the interview, not to mention absolutely hilarious. I must say, I feel 20X more excited about the tour after listening to the interview.

Lady Gaga has revealed that she loves to cook and is good at making pastas. The Poker Face hitmaker, who has Italian American heritage, enjoys preparing meatballs too.
"I love to cook. I am really good at Italian food because I come from a very Italian family. So I make great meatballs, pasta... Mmmm,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
Meanwhile, reports have come that she is looking forward to building an acting career. A source said: “She sees acting as a natural progression in her career. One idea she has is for a rock opera which would be a huge, big budget movie made to her own very unique ideas. But she is also keen on straight dramatic roles. She has the drive and confidence to make it big as an actress."
Still trying to grasp the concept for the "Bad Romance" music video? E! Online recently did a bit of analyzing and broke things down for the rest of us.
I think we need to understand what Gaga is trying to tell us other than walk, walk, fashion, baby. And to do that we need to analyze the images we're seeing, and boy are there a lot of 'em.
So what are we working with here? The video includes images of a hairless cat, a guy in an S&M roman gladiator chin strap, an alternate Gaga with anime eyes in a bathtub, and diamonds floating in space. And oh: She's crying, and dancing, but not at the same time. She wears righteous sunglasses.
There is an actual story to the video, and we'll go over it through the wise, mystical prism of dream analysis! Let us begin...
First, the general premise. If you've seen the Hostel movies, you may notice that, like the plots from said movies, Gaga appears to be in a situation where she's being auctioned off as a sex-slash-murder toy. Guys in S&M Roman gladiator chin straps are bidding on her, but not before she emerges as a creature from a pod who must be groomed into the fashion goddess she is. Simple, right?
OK, now let's take a closer look at some of the images, with some help from real-life dream analyst Carolyn Wills, whose work is featured in the book 365 Ways to Get a Good Night's Sleep.
She points out that the sequence of the images is importantas is the fact that the person has to actually have dreamed this stuff, and Gaga, while genius, probably just acted it out.
All that said:
The floating diamonds: They may represent "the gem of clarity of thinking; beauty of the soul, pure ideas," Wills suggests. "Frozen in space would mean those ideas are frozen, the beauty is frozen, the ideas are frozen, unable to produce."
Gaga with anime eyes sitting in a bathtub: "Extra good vision or seeing too much of any one thing," Wills suggests. "In the bathtubthat would indicate the need to be cleansed or to be forgiven, and the person with the large eyes fully well knows that."
The bidder in the gladiator chin-strap getup: "The gladiator is a romanticized version of a soldier," Wills notes, "as in 'Am I being a good soldier about some issue, or do I need to be more disciplined?' " Or, dare I say, whipped?
The hairless, hissing cat: Cats generally represent the feminine side of oneself, Wills says, but it "can also mean cattinesshissing would indicate aggression, and hairless would indicate baring it all."
All that said, what's my opinion? Sheer brilliance.
Lady GaGa wants to add ‘film star’ to her increasingly impressive CV- according to reports.
The popstar has dabbled in acting this year making a guest appearance in Gossip Girl and starring alongside Beyonce in her Video Phone, er, video.
Now apparently she’s thinking about launching a lavish ‘rock opera.’ A source told The Sun:
“She sees acting as a natural progression in her career. One idea she has is for a rock opera which would be a huge, big budget movie made to her own very unique ideas. But she is also keen on straight dramatic roles.
“She has the drive and confidence to make it big as an actress. It's just a matter of finding time when she is not committed to her first love - music.”
We've recently moved domains (time for yet another bookmark!) and along with that - a brand new site design has been put up. Hope you enjoy the new look!
For those of you who chose not to download the full leak of "The Fame Monster" released the other day, now is your chance to listen to the record in it's entirety without feeling so guilty. MTV has finally added the full album to 'The Leak'. Check it out!
